Some of the specific areas in which Axiom is currently invloved are:

RF and Wireless
RF and wireless is a key technology focus at Axiom. We make use of this technology for many short range RF applications at various frequencies ranging from 315 MHz to 1.2GHz. The technology is used for various embedded applications as well as for short range communication
Mechatronics

Various applications developed at Axiom make use of complex mechatronics elements such as:

  • IR Sensing – analog and digital
  • IR, Hall-effect based positioning
  • MEMs based accelerometers, pressure sensors etc.
  • Sensors for bioelectric impedance analysis for various applications
  • Link and gear mechanisms
Communication Protocols
Communication protocols form the critical connections, linking the embedded systems to a computer or linking embedded systems to each other . We use appropriate technology based on cost, design and speed requirements ranging from high speed ethernet to serial communication protocols. Some of the products developed at Axiom make use of protocols like 802.11 based wireless, Ethernet, Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and USB.
Application Software

For many applications, PCs form the backbone of the embedded system. For example, in a security system, acceleration data from MEMS sensors can be recorded online and stored on a PC, and forwarded to a security camera, focusing it on an area of theft. These software applications are made up of different elements:

  • User interface – This is usually a PC-based user interface to display data and actions.
  • Embedded application integration – The software component connects to the embedded hardware through various communication protocols.
  • Data processing application - Software components process the data acquired from embedded systems using appropriate logic or numeric routines, e.g. using FFT to process time based data and present this in a frequency format.
