Aspirator RobotThe Automated Reagent aspirator is a part of a Medical Diagnostic equipment. The objective of the system was to aspirate very small volumes of reagent with high precision and dispense this reagent at a programmed location using a non-contaminating mechanism

A robotic mechanism was developed was developed for high precision location sensing and aspiration.



Project Highlights :

  • Develop high-precision, programmable syringe pump at the end of a linear actuator
  • The dispenser was capable of aspirating 10 µl of reagent
  • RS232 communication with a host controller
  • Developed methodologies for high precision location sensing
  • Developed algorithms for optimized arm movement and precise dosages
  • Disposable pipette tip design for non-contaminating aspiration and dispensing of reagent
  • Laser sensor design to ensure reliable pipette tip pick-up

Result :

Reliable robotic system for Reagent aspiration was successfully deployed in medical equipment
