Seat Belt Sled Test And Validation

Seat Belt Sled Test and Validation Seat belt simulation is a standard simulation load case carried out during the design and development of the vehicle. These simulations were conducted as part of design and development to ensure that the final design clears the FMVSS210 criteria.

Axiom was contracted by a automotive ODM in UK to simulate seat belt anchorage for Dual-mate first row seat frame of a vehicle.

Project Highlights

  • Develop strategy for CAE simulation
  • Develop CAD model for the seat and body structure
  • Create Dual-mate first row seat frame FE model
  • Conduct rigid bed plate seat belt anchorage analysis using LS Dyna and assess results against target performance,
  • Multiple Design Vectors evaluated and validated using LS Dyna Simulations
  • The simulation results were correlated against physical bed plate test results.
  • Seat System design was modified based on simulation results
  • Prototype systems was built and tested using a bed plate test setup

Result :

The design changes ensured that the seat system exceed the strength criteria of FMVSS210

Core Competency Leverage:

CAD, Explicit CAE Simulation using LS Dyna, Correlation between Physical Testing and simulation
